the tented patch of sheet he was trying so hard to hide, and he
smirked. “And I have it on pretty good authority planeswalkers aren’t
so bad themselves.”
Jacob couldn’t see the dopey smile he felt spreading across his
face, but he was pretty sure it was there. He squeezed Alex’s hand.
“Can I kiss you right now?”
Alex leaned over and claimed his lips. Restricted as he was to the
clumsy hospital bed, he’d only meant to try for a peck, but once those
soft lips pressed against his, he couldn’t keep his from opening.
Alex’s tongue eagerly darted inside, and he could feel a hand running

up his neck to pull his head closer. He gave in to the tug, leaning in as
close as he could, until his bruised elbow clanged against the bed rail.
“Damn.” Alex pulled away, his face full of worry as he examined
the spot he’d bumped. “Are you okay?” he asked.
“Very okay,” Jacob sighed. Even the slow trace of Alex’s thumb
over his elbow was erotic. He didn’t want to claim his mate in a
hospital bed, but if he didn’t get out of there soon, his dick was going
to wage a serious protest against that sentiment.
“I should probably go, huh?” Alex asked. His voice was breathy,
and his hands were lingering dangerously close to the bulge in his
jeans.
Jacob nodded, his eyes locked on that thick denim bulge.
“Probably a good idea. You should see when I’m getting discharged.”
Alex nodded. “Anything you need while I’m out? Change of
clothes? Better food?”
Kleenex? Lube? Sex toys? “Nope.” Jacob shook his head
furiously, trying to get the words eight-inch cock out of his mind.
“Just um…close the door on your way out.”

Chapter Four
Alex’s hand tightened around Jacob’s when Jasper walked into
the hospital room with Lars. Neither man looked happy to see Jacob,
but Jasper looked downright furious.
Jacob swallowed around the lump in his throat. “How’s your
mate?” he asked.
“Still in a coma,” Jasper snapped. “Thanks.”
Jacob bit his lip. “He’s a werewolf,” he said. “I didn’t think he’d
get hurt.”
“Or maybe you just didn’t think at all,” Jasper said.
“Jas, come on. Leave him alone.”
“Don’t fucking call me Jas. Only Ben gets to call me Jas, and
he’s…” Jasper voice wavered, and he wiped his eyes. Pulling his
hand away from them, he narrowed his gaze on Alex. “Fuck, what are
you doing with him, anyway?” He pointed to Jacob, and Jacob felt
his face flush. “Are you just so desperate for a mate that you—”
Lars’s hand closed around Alex’s shoulder and squeezed. Jasper
closed his eyes, his face strained with pain. When he opened them, he
looked back at Alex. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be a dick,” he said.
His gaze narrowed again as it flitted to Jacob. “At least, not to you.”
Jacob swallowed down the lump in his throat that had formed as
the memory washed over him. He couldn’t help but be reminded of it
as he stared at the door to Ben’s room, looming large and terrifying in
front of him from where he stood in the hallway. He hadn’t seen
Jasper since that day, or any of the Craven clan except for Alex.
He couldn’t put it off any longer, though. Ben had woken up
yesterday—thank God—and Jacob had promised Alex he’d see him

before he left the hospital. That didn’t exactly leave a lot of time,
since Jacob was getting discharged tomorrow. The hospital had kept
him a while, mostly due to some unusual blood tests his planeswalker
DNA had turned up, but the wounds from his fall were healing fine.
Now it was just the ones Jasper seemed ready to inflict on him
that he had to worry about.
Jacob stood up to peer through the window. Alex was supposed to
meet him, but he wasn’t there yet. That was unfortunate, but at least
Jasper wasn’t there. Jacob stood outside the door a moment, weighing
his options, before he swallowed his fear, opened the door, and
walked in.
The friendly laughter that he’d heard from outside the door came
to an abrupt stop as his footsteps echoed across the floor of the private
room and stopped in front of Ben’s hospital bed.
“Hi,” Jacob said. His throat was raw.
Two sets of eyes stared at him before sharing a look with each [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
